What fits what: pressure washer fittings
More money is wasted in this niche on fittings than on machines. Here is the map.
By Jean-Benoit Buisson
Four systems dominate, and photographs of them online are near-identical.
Kärcher bayonet
A quarter-turn fitting used across the domestic K-series. Enormous accessory range, entirely proprietary. Kärcher’s professional machines use EASY!Lock, which is a different fitting again.
Nilfisk Click&Clean
Push-fit, used across Nilfisk’s domestic range. Its own accessory ecosystem, smaller than Kärcher’s.
Bosch
Its own connector on the AQT and Aquatak machines. Bosch’s own accessory listings name the compatible machines, which removes most of the guesswork.
M22 thread
The trade standard, used by Kränzle, Scheppach, most petrol machines and a large share of the accessory market — drain hoses, lances, surface cleaners. It is the fitting to prefer on an accessory you want to keep across machines.
Adapter rules
One adapter, rated above your machine’s peak pressure, fully seated, checked for weeping at low pressure first. Never two in series. And read the gender: M22 male and female are not interchangeable, and half the returns in this category are the right adapter the wrong way round.
