M22 exists as male and female, and adapters are sold in both. The direction you need is decided by the accessory you already own — if it terminates in a male thread, you need female here. It is the most common mistake in this family, and the photographs do not help.
One adapter, rated above peak pressure, fully seated, checked for weeping. And where the accessory exists in Nilfisk’s native fitting, that is the version to buy.
