The K 7 WCM FJ sits at the top of Kärcher’s domestic range, and the letters that matter are WCM: water-cooled motor. Everything else — 180 bar, 600 l/h, 60 m²/h, a 10 m hose — follows from a machine designed to run rather than to be picked up for ten minutes.
Domestic pressure washers are built for intermittent use. The pump and motor heat up under load, and an air-cooled machine relies on you letting go of the trigger. Water cooling routes the incoming supply around the motor first, carrying that heat away into the work. The practical effect is not more power on the first minute; it is the same power on the fortieth, and a motor that reaches its tenth season.
That makes the choice between this and the K 5 a question about how you clean, not what you clean. Twenty minutes on a car, twice a summer: the K 5 is the honest answer. A full Saturday on a farmyard: this one.
At the top of the domestic range, pressure becomes a hazard to the building. Softwood decking loses its surface fibres and goes furry. Render takes water behind it, which then freezes in the winter. Old paint lifts in sheets. Lime mortar between bricks washes out faster than most people believe.
None of that is an argument against the machine — it is an argument for the Vario Power lance, which is the reason it is in the box. Start wide and far, close in only as far as the surface tolerates, and keep the dirt blaster for concrete, drains and stone.
Ten metres rather than the usual six sounds like packaging and is the single most useful thing in the box. A pressure washer gets pulled over because its hose is short and its operator is impatient; more hose means the machine stays where you put it, on level ground, out of the water.

Running time. An air-cooled domestic machine is designed for intermittent use: pull the trigger, work, release, let it idle. Continuous heavy work heats the motor, and heat is what shortens its life. Water cooling passes the incoming supply around the motor before it reaches the pump, so the machine tolerates long sessions. If your cleaning is done in twenty-minute bursts, you will never see the benefit.
It is too much for some of a house. At that pressure a fan jet held close lifts paint, tears softwood fibres, drives water behind render and forces it past window seals. The technique is the same on any machine but matters more here: start a metre away, close in only as far as the surface tolerates, and keep the dirt blaster for concrete and drains.
Kärcher's domestic range is largely region-specific — voltage, fittings and model naming differ between Europe and North America, and the K 3 to K 5 models in this group are European listings.
